New Practice Members at John McAtamney DC’s Office
When You Arrive
After you’ve been greeted, our staff will give you our paperwork to complete while they make copies of your ID and insurance card, if applicable. Once done, you’ll be taken to meet Dr. Mac for your free consultation. If, based on what you’ve shared with us, we’re able to help you, the next step is an exam. There’s no cost up to this point, you’ll be informed of your responsibility before moving on.
We do a digitized posture scan with the INSiGHT™ subluxation station. If the scans show any red flags, such as weakness, extreme pain, nerve root issues, or a swollen joint, Dr. Mac will refer you for an X-ray. Sometimes, issues from the past medical history may also necessitate X-rays.
The Second Visit
After receiving the results from your scans and X-rays, Dr. Mac determines what’s going on with you and what he needs to do to get results. He likes to use an analogy from his time as a carpenter. He can’t build a house without blueprints. Your bones are your blueprints, so he needs to look at them. He has to see how your muscles function against gravity, and how your nervous system has responded. Once he has all this information, he knows what techniques to use to adjust you, and what exercise you need. Based on his years of experience, he’s able to estimate how long it’s going to take to achieve results and how quickly you’re going to heal.
